Most of your life never leaves your device
Your character sheet, your distilled portrait, your rulings journal (the Scrolls), your Measure results, your streak, your joined halls, and any API key you bring are stored in your browser's local storage — on your device, not on our servers. Clear your browser data and they are gone; we could not recover them for you if we wanted to, because we never had them.
Questions are recorded — anonymously
When you bring a question to the council, the text of the question, the mode (Snap/Call/Deep), and the stakes grade are recorded to our database so we can understand what the table is asked and sharpen it. This record carries no name, no account, no API key, and no device identifier. It is not visible to other users or through the public API — only to the operator. Because the question text itself is yours, write it as carefully as you would say it.
What you choose to publish
Nothing you deliberate is shared unless you share it. If you post to the Town Square, take the floor, vote, leave takes, or speak in the public chat, that content is public. Private share links and halls are visible to anyone who holds the link — the link is the key, so guard it like one. A random per-browser token (not your identity) keeps votes honest and powers features like “one vote per person.”
Keybearer sync
If you bring your own API key and choose to back up your memory, your sheet, portrait, and recent rulings are stored on our database under an identifier derived one-way from your key. We never store the key itself, and the identifier cannot be reversed into it. This is opt-in, and you trigger it manually.
Voice and images
If you use the microphone, your audio is sent for transcription and then discarded — we do not store recordings. If you lay an image on the table, it is processed to advise you and is not stored on our servers. Spoken counsel is generated on demand and not retained.
Who touches the machinery
Roundtable runs on infrastructure providers who process data on our behalf: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Anthropic (the council's reasoning), OpenAI (voice transcription and speech), and ElevenLabs (the advisors' voices). Under their API terms, these providers do not use your content to train their models. We run no advertising, no trackers, and no analytics scripts.
What we will never do
We do not sell your questions, your content, or anything derived from them to data brokers or advertisers. Aggregated, anonymized statistics (never individual questions) may be published or used to improve the product, and what the table learns may be used within our family of companies to build our products — under these same promises.
Your controls
Everything local is yours to wipe (clear site data in your browser). “Forget key,” “Forget” on the portrait, and delete on rulings do what they say, immediately. To request removal of a public share you authored or of your synced Keybearer memory, use the report link on the page or contact the keeper at support@theroundtable.social.
The fine points
Roundtable is for adults — 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect children's data. This policy will change as the product grows; material changes will be posted here with a new date. If California or EU privacy law applies to you, the rights those laws grant (access, deletion, and the rest) are honored through the contact above.
